Authenticity of the Bible

If you're seeking the truth, you're extremely close to being in the right place, which is the Bible, the main reason why the Bible is so important is because within it we find God's Word, whom is our creator.

So for a person that's genuinly seeking the truth, connecting the dots between the Bible and History is not very difficult, the difficult part is doing research without falling asleep, other than that, you just have to put time into it, be honest about it, be objective, find contradictions, see if they can be sustained, otherwise find supportive arguments, see if they affirm.

But we're in a broken world, a world of decay, a world where people lie... and that makes our research even more difficult, but there's an answer, not a perfect answer, but I think it comes very close.  The authenticity of the Bible can be found within the Bible itself, for some that might be like one of those excel formulas that won't cooperate because it's trying to re-calculate a number that has already been calculated, so it's a no go, but that's not the case for the Bible, the reason why, is because there's a layer of unbiased love that  we have to acknowledge first, think about the Bible as a love letter from a father to his child, the father may say I wrote you that letter, and there's no reason for you to doubt me as the writer of that letter, likewise the child may say I know this letter came from my father, he told me, it was handed to me by him, whatever it says, I know is from him.

It's difficult to acknowledge that previous part simply because, in great part, we haven't read the Bible, so we don't know that God operates in the realm of love, truth, faith, righteousness, well, there's much to talk about that first layer, so we'll move onto the next layer, but before we do, I'll leave you this verse that basically encapsulates the first layer.

John 20:29 (KJV)  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

The next layer of authenticity is proven prophesies within the Bible, say for instance, Isaiah 53, the chapter prophesies the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus, in fact, given that the Lord Jesus fulfilled the Law, means that His entire life as it is written in the Bible serves as the next best layer of Bible authenticity, in terms of prophecy that hasn't been fulfilled, take for instance the book of Revelation, but that will only add to the authenticity after it has been fulfilled; now you might say, we'll that's just like your previous layer, all circular reasoning, it's not, to the unbeliever it seems that way, but not to the believer, the first layer hinges on the existence of God, because God Himelf has made sure that those whom He is calling to His Kingdom know about Him, now He's no going to force people to believe that He exist, but because of what has been revealed, there's really no excuse to deny His existence, therefore it is a sin no to believe that He exists.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Now the second and subsequent layers have to have the foundational belief that God Is!  otherwise, our belief wouldn't be consitent, it would simply not stand.  And just like the first layer rests on the belief that God Is, the second layer of Bible authenticity rests on the belief that Jesus resurrected from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV)  And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

I hope this is all making sense and building your faith; the third layer of Bible autenticity is to basically extract what's consider historical and correlated with secular history, this is where most people are, unfortunately this is perhaps where the most danger of belief is, simply because the Bible being the book of Truth is not at the same level of any other historical book, where many times history is replaced with "the theory is", or speculations of different sorts, then most "logical" conclusions are put forward, so in essence it's like trying to verify the quality of a factory made mirror by seeing our image through reflecting water.  Maybe the analogy is not quite there, but the point is, the comparison is a step down, nevertheless, that's where the disbelief of the world is and many I suppose have come to the knowledge of the truth even through such comparisons, goes to show the mercy of the Lord, and patience.

So there are many historical documents and even books that testify of events that have taken place in the Bible, for instance there's a book of archeology called "Where God Came Down", by Joel Kramer, whom also has a youtube channel concerning the same, very good and excellent way to corroborate many of those events, I see the opportunity to explore those events as God's mercy, take for instance Sodom and Gomorra, if I'm not mistaken Joel put out a video in regards to that place being real, and the same for many other Biblical events, again, testifying of the authenticity of the Bible; we have uncovered three layers to match our belief to the Bible's authenticity, for your benefit.

Beyond these three, which are more like passive catalysts for us to believe, there are dynamic catalysts for our belief, which brings us basically to the present, what we see happening in the world, if we're honest with ourselves, we can all conclude that a gun has never killed anyone, it's the heart behind the gun, the finger that pulls the trigger is just transferring the heart's burden of hatred, perhaps indicative of how much pressure hatred builds up within us.  So we begin to understand that hearts are lacking love, they're lacking truth and righteousness, and I don't think any other book talks about those three elements with more accuracy than the Bible, once again indirectly testifying to its authenticity.

I think there are more areas that testify of the authenticity of the Bible, but we're going to make this our last one and then talk about some facts.  This last layer has to do with our testimony, so basically our life experiences, from experience I can tell you that there are things in life that will bend your heart, some little by little, some will cast a blow, there's not telling, we have hearts, there's no work around that one, and hearts have feelings, hearts also love, and sacrifice, hearts also lie and hate, so a heart is a two way street sort of speak, but in the end our experiences, and perhaps the testimony of other people will build in our hearts to the point that we are able to testify of the authencity of the Bible, now I like to mention the difference between a testimony and a life experience, the testimony is a life experience directly connected to God's rescuing power and love, for instance, I have one, where there was a tornado that came near our house, perhaps little, I don't know, what I do know is that took our three or four hundred pound porch off the house, about five seconds before I opened the door, at the time I didn't think much of it, because I had not put the multiple two and two's together, but that became my testimony of God's rescuing power, now some life experiences can become our testimony after we discover how God intervened, and as we get old and look back, we'll realize more and  more that God had rescued us more times than we can count, so in the end, ironically our entire life will be our testimony.

Yet, confirming once again, the authenticity of the Bible.

And last, but not least, some facts, the Bible is the only book that is as old as it is, it began with the writings of Moses being directed by God, which took place a few years prior to the year 1400 B.C. so that would be a bit over 3425 years ago, since 2025 is the year of this writing, so a book of about 3400 years, that's old isn't it?!!  but that's not the time it took to be written, the last book of the Bible was written around the year 95 A.D. makes us wonder why it took so long to write, right?!!  Because that's about, or rather almost 1500 years of the Bible being authored, impressive!
In addition, the Bible has about 40 authors, many born not overlapping their lifetimes, or geographical locations, yet without error what they wrote coincides with the essence of the message, and that testifies also of the authenticity of the Bible, as having One author, God Himself.

Would it be right for me to say that the Bible was written only for believers?  It is written, for God so loved the world...!!  Humanity has trouble not only knowing where that is in the Bible, but believing such deep and profound truth, because we can easily replace the "world" with my name, or your name!  And likewise in the following verse, the word "whosoever" with your name or my name!  If the Bible was just a construct of mankind how is it that there's so much hatred towards it and those who believe it?  How come the Apostles all suffered and their lives taken?  How come many of the Prophets in the old testament were killed?  How come the Holocaust took place?  How come they killed the Lord Jesus?  What did He do wrong?  The presence of evil in a way testifies of the light that God has given this world, even the darkness within our hearts testify and that to our own detriment, nevertheless our conscience stands ready to testify.

Well, we could write books and books about the subject, and in fact, there are countless books about the subject, but to the heart that wants to remain in unbelief, there's no amount or reason that would make him change his mind; nevertheless, I hope you were able to gather something good from this page, and even more important, that you begin a search for the truth like no other, with eagerness and resolve, the way I see it, our souls depend on it, the souls of our children depend on it, on our legacy, what is it that we'll be passing down to them, hatred?  No!!  Love, the love of God, His mercy, His promises, that one day we can enter Heaven, a place of joyfulness, of righteousness, of peace, where there's no pain and no sorrows; so what is there to lose?
