JESUS IS THE DOORWelcome and thank you for stopping by. In the Bible we read that Jesus says "I am the door", His words are the answer to our deepest question or longing, which is "what is our ultimate purpose?" or "what were we made for?", the answer is love, God is love and He made us for His purpose, in His purpose we find our meaning, in other words, Love is our destination, and if you think about it, all the work we do here on earth is because we want not only to protect life, but also to extend it as much as possible, that inclination to protect life, to work for our children, to have a wife or a husband, even to take care of things, all of those things branch out from love! So Jesus knows exactly what our longing, need and purpose is, that's why He is saying, "I am the door", love is the destination, and we read in the Bible that "God is Love", so God is our destination, but there's a door that needs to be opened in order for us to go in, Jesus is that door, so how does The Door open? We open it by reading and abiding in His Word in the Bible, abiding means to be obedient to His Word; this might bit a bit hard to relate to, but it's like being adopted and brought into a new home, a lot of things are akward, strange and at times even discouraging, but through it all, we know we've been given the right to be in that home, and the Lord knows that it will take us some time to adapt, to learn, to embrace change and ultimately to trust and love Him whom adopted us. I hope I was able to explain that well, but the explanation would not be complete without the following verses from the Lord Jesus, in particular John 1:12.John 10:7 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 1:12 (KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: So being able to connect the three verses above is essential to understand the foundational meaning and purpose of our lives. Notice in John 10:7 how the Lord Jesus says "I am the door of the sheep" and in John 14:6 He says "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.", the first verse refers to the area that's on one side of the door, namely us "the sheep", and on the other side "the Father", one shows where we are and the other one our destination: Love, Truth, Rigtheousness being our destination, found in the Father, God Himself, but that destination depends on the door opening, right?! Well, if the Door doesn't open there's no destination, so what do we have to work with? Our current condition, as "Sheep", we'll have a hard time finding that door, the analogy with Sheep is very accurate, because when you look at the world, you'll probably conclude that Sheep know where the door is better than mankind. Nevertheless, God's gift remains for us, it doesn't mean we have to give up and just because we've failed in the pass doesn't mean we're a failture, if we're still here on this Earth is because God still is able and willing to work with us, He wants to bring us to the destination, to Himself, because it is in HIM where we'll find our perfect meaning, purpose and protection, you many not be able to see it that way, but that's because the lights of the world have been blinding you for a while, but as you set your eyes on Jesus more and more, the lights of the world will slowly grow dim and you'll see the beautiful inheritance that God has for you, which brings us to the following question: Where and how do I start? Matthew 7:14 (KJV) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Humbleness is the beginning, acknowledging that we are like sheep, a lot of attributes of sheep match our behaviour, but the most important one is that just like sheep, we have gone astray and therefore we're in need of the Good Shepherd, becaues without Him we will never be able to find the door, nor water or protection and as we have read above, the door is the key to reach our destination, it is indeed an analogy or a metaphor, but it's there for our understanding, so as simple as it is, don't understimate the essential meaning, which is that we really, really, really need the Good Shepherd, otherwise, it would be an understament even to say that we're a tragedy in the making. Now before we wrap it up with a special video, I wanted to mention the reason for the picture of the door on the home page of this website, I'll try to make it short, just like sheep grow "hair", so much that at some point they can't even see, so do we let things grow in our lives that basically block our view of where the door is, so the picture depicts this with grown grass in front of it, these things are the grass that's blocking the path to the door, and we need to get rid of it, in other words, that's our emergency exit, and it needs to be clear at all times, our path to Jesus needs to be always clear and we always need to have the mentality that when He comes back for us, there will be nothing that will hold us back, in other words, don't make a cute or friendly bond with things, which is another way of saying "stay away from idols", things are things, they're not your friends, even if they have a man-made face, which brings us to the issue/problem of AI (artificial intelligence), these days, which we won't go into in this article. A beautiful video I found a few months ago, depicts the beautiful analogy of us being Sheep and the important reasons to stay close to the Shepherd, we should probably make an article on Sheep Attributes and how they relate to the Christian walk; so enjoy the video and I hope you'll be able to gather much from it, it's only 30 mins long, it will calm your soul down and give you a clear perspective. If it's too long for you, start watching it at minute 16:40, so it will only be about 15 mins. My favorite part begins at 21:21 because I think of myself as that lost sheep, having no clue of where I was, much less where to find food and protection. Make it full screen: If you move the mouse to the bottom right corner you'll see a little square which can make it full screen To exit out full screen, simply press the ESC key. ![]() |
