Children ResourcesIn a way this is the heart of the matter: what are we feeding to our children? for the reason why it is the heart of the matter in terms of the greater picture of why the world is the way it is, we can gently conclude it is a two fold answer, first we cannot give what we don't have, and second they cannot receive what we're not giving them, sounds obvious, but sometimes is good to explore an issue from the obvious stand point for the sole purpose of gaining traction when the matter becomes more complex and seemingly difficult to handle. The world is the way it is because we've been feeding the world to them, how? When we leave them in front of the TV and cell phones to choose whatever they like, when we don't correct them, when we don't guide them in things that one day will help them live a healthy life, but most importantly, when we don't feed them God's Word, so we are simply compounding to the reason why the world is the way it is, so yes, we become part of the problem as we complain; our posture should be humble acknowledgement. But that's the explanation of the problem, the good news is that God has given us a solution, namely His Word, but since kids are not able sometimes to absorb one verse in the Bible, and sometimes ourselves can't understand certain verses, how can we expect them to live a life of Biblical expectations, so that's the reason for this page, we need to help our children grow in the admonition of the Lord, they need to know and live out values and principles that will help them later in life, that will lead them to Jesus and in turn, be of service to have a great Harvest, for His glory! The first resource that comes to mind for children is music, makes sense since music is easily assimilated even unto adulthood, so for a very young child I've found this little toy to be a beautiful gift, here's the Amazon Link. My Little Songbook Ages: 1-5![]() But children sometimes want a different toy, not that we're calling Bible based materials a toy, yet to them it is a learning toy; so along the lines of music, here are some songs that seem fairly okay for children, remember, through all these resources, it is your responsibility to set a standard for your child and verify resources are indeed okay, just because something comes out of a christian store, does not mean it is Christian. The Donut Man ![]() I'm in the Lord's Army - By Donut Man More information about the Donut Man ministry here. I'll place more songs here as they come to mind, or find about them. The Story Keepers ![]() Next we have a resource that I think they'll enjoy, these are short movies called "The Story Keepers", found on YouTube Bible stories - the teachings of Jesus Unfortunately I haven't found a place where you can purchase the entire collection. These are short videos, but 30 min. long each, which are great for their attention span and they teach good values under the context of the Christian message. You can also find the Story Keepers on Braveplus, but it seems to require a subscription. Braveplus has an alright selection of books and videos, unfortunately there's a trend in such material, which is the portraying of humans as animals, some people may not see anything wrong with it, the issue is that it perpetuates the problem we have of young kids believing in evolution not as a theory (which is wrong in itself), but as a fact, which is worse. Adventures in Odyssey ![]() Alright, moving onto Adventures in Odyssey, a project by Focus on the Family, this one is subscription based, but depending on your child's interest, it may be more of an investment, here's the link. This one is for ages between 10 and 14, in my opinion; I have heard it a few times and they do teach good values in more complex/dynamic scenarios, perhaps reflecting real-life scenarios of that age group. They have other resources for younger people, so check them out, it certainly is a good alternative to being attached to a cell phone. More resources coming soon, thank you for stopping by, perhaps you can check us out on YouTube, look for MadeInTruth.net - I'll try to put a link here soon! ![]() |
